Writing prompt: Animating the Inanimate

Write a scene or short story from the point of view of an inanimate object.

Ulterior motive

Looking at a situation from a new point of view is generally a worthwhile practice for writers. What kind of emotions and motivations drive an inanimate object? What is "life" like for something that can't live on its own?

Most importantly, though: what do humanity's desires, motivations, and foibles look like to an entity that doesn't share them?

My example

My short story "Passport" was written in this vein. It's just one of the stories you'll find in my ebook Seasonal Work.
